A very disappointing year in the end given the excitement of Euro 2004. Backing Greece at 66/1 (after they won their first match) was one of my most inspired bets of all time. This basically finished my account betting with sportingodds.com. They were 66 when others were 50, so now my maximum allowed bet is seldom more than £1. Did they think I knew something then? All I knew was that they were best price! Remarkably I watched neither the semi final or the final. I had pre-booked events at the Ludlow Festival. For the Czech game I was at the Opera (Tosca) and for the final we were at a Bob Geldof concert. Yet come November most of the profits had been frittered away and it was only a late rally with the Xmas number one (without Bandaid) that saw me finish on the right side. More discipline needed in 2005!
